Today at 10 a.m., NYPL will officially open its beautiful new Kingsbridge Library, which is nearly double the size of its predecessor. It features an outdoor garden, the NYPL’s first green roof, nearly 40 public access computers, wi-fi and over 20,000 collection items. The community has long outgrown the previous building and has been eagerly awaiting their new space, so there is plenty of excitement around this opening. So if you’re free, come on out for the ceremony and a day of programming, including crafts, face-painting, a lecture by a historian, a talk with author Steven Torres and more. Plus, refreshments will be served throughout the day, including pizza and cupcakes donated by local businesses Bari Pizzeria and Restaurant and Leila’s Hand-Dipped Chocolate. So come celebrate!
